Skiing in Davos: A Guide to the Five Mountains

Davos-Klosters has five separate ski mountains and 300+ km of piste. A guide to Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Pischa, and Madrisa — and which suits your skiing.

Davos-Klosters is one of the largest ski regions in Switzerland — and unusually, it is not one mountain but five separate ski areas, each with its own access, character, and crowd. Between them they hold more than 300 kilometres of marked piste, served by over fifty lifts and covered by a single regional ski pass. For a first-time visitor the choice can be bewildering, so here is how the five break down.

Parsenn — the classic

The Parsenn is the heart of Davos skiing and the mountain most people mean when they talk about the resort. Accessed by the historic Parsennbahn funicular from Davos Dorf, it offers long, sweeping intermediate runs and the famous descents down to Klosters and Küblis — among the longest pisted runs in the Alps. It is the natural choice for cruising mileage and for skiing between Davos and Klosters in a single day.

Jakobshorn — freeride and party

Directly above Davos Platz, the Jakobshorn is the resort's freeride and snowboard mountain, with terrain parks, off-piste lines, and the liveliest mountain bars in the valley. It draws a younger crowd and is the place to be for après-ski that starts well before the lifts close.

Rinerhorn, Pischa, and Madrisa — the quieter three

The smaller areas reward anyone who values space over scale. Rinerhorn, a short ride down-valley, is relaxed and family-friendly. Pischa has reinvented itself as a freeride and ski-touring mountain with limited grooming, ideal for those chasing untracked snow. And Madrisa, above Klosters, is the sunny, gentle, family mountain of the region — the best base for beginners and children.

Which mountain for which skier?

  • Beginners and families: Madrisa or Rinerhorn.
  • Intermediates wanting mileage: Parsenn.
  • Advanced, freeride, and party: Jakobshorn and Pischa.
  • Ski touring and untracked snow: Pischa.

Most visitors mix several across a stay — the regional pass makes it easy, and the variety is precisely the point.

Skiing around the Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting falls in the depths of the ski season, and for many delegates the mountains are part of the appeal — an early run before the programme, or an informal conversation taken on the slopes. The catch is logistics: during the forum, time is tight and the valley is busy. Basing yourself somewhere with genuinely easy slope access turns an hour of faff into a few minutes. Our ski-friendly stays in Davos are chosen for exactly that, and the iDavos concierge team can arrange equipment, instructors, and lift logistics so the skiing fits around your schedule rather than competing with it.
