Getting Around Davos

How to get around Davos once you arrive — local buses and trains, the guest card, walking the promenade, and what changes during the Annual Meeting.

Davos is a long, narrow town strung along a valley floor, with the two halves — Davos Platz and Davos Dorf — linked by a single main road and the railway. Once you understand that layout, getting around is straightforward.

On foot

Within either Platz or Dorf, walking is often the easiest option. The promenade through Davos Platz puts the Congress Centre, shops, hotels, and restaurants within a few minutes of each other. For anything in the same part of town, you rarely need transport — which is exactly why proximity to the Congress Centre matters so much when choosing where to stay during the forum.

Local buses and trains

Davos has a local bus network running the length of the valley and up to the lift stations, plus frequent Rhaetian Railway services between Platz, Dorf, and onward to Klosters and the wider region. Together they cover most of what a visitor needs without a car.

Many stays in Davos include the Davos Klosters guest card, which typically covers local public transport and offers reductions on some mountain railways and activities — the exact benefits vary by season and by property, so check what yours includes when you book.

By car

A car is useful for flexibility — early ski starts, evening events in Klosters, day trips — but comes with caveats. Central parking is limited, and during the Annual Meeting the town's roads are busier and parts are subject to security controls. For the forum specifically, most delegates rely on private drivers rather than self-driving; the iDavos concierge team coordinates cars and timing around the day's schedule.

What changes during WEF week

Plan for two things. Access: certain zones around the Congress Centre are controlled, and routes that are quick the rest of the year may be restricted. Demand: taxis, drivers, and parking are all in short supply. The practical answer is to stay close to where you need to be and to arrange transport in advance rather than on the day.

The simplest way to remove the friction is to base yourself within walking distance of the programme — browse accommodation by area — and let us handle the transfers. Get in touch to plan it.
